Abandoned Stamp Card No 6: 10d Photogravure Aerogramme

In 1956 the Note Printing Branch began planning the introduction of multi-colour photogravure stamp printing. A multi-colour trial printing of an aerogram using the photogravure process was carried out by the London firm Chambon Ltd. but not carried forward to production. It may be the image was not attractive enough and the Australian Note Printing Branch continued with letter press printing though the 1960s and 70s.
