CLASSIC EXHIBITS

Classic Exhibits

Once an exhibit has achieved a Large Gold Medal Nationally or Internationally, it may or may not then be entered into the Championship Class by the owner. The decision is entirely that of the owner.

Invariably, at some stage down the track, these exhibits are either sold off in numerous lots at auction or otherwise dismantled, thereby making then unavailable for future exhibiting in their award-winning layout.

For this reason, the APF endeavours to identify suitable exhibits for long term preservation through the publishing of what are referred to as Classic Exhibit publications thus making them available to future generations of exhibitors.

No more than one such exhibit is published annually.

Exhibits to date produced in book form in the Classic Exhibit series are –

  • Postal History of Port Philip District 1839-1851 (Raymond Kelly FAP) – Postal History
  • Whiskers (John Sinfield MAP) – Thematics ( available from APF Store)
  • Queensland Revenues Adhesive and Impressed Duties (Dave Elsmore) – Revenues
  • Tasmania – Imperforate stamps from “Courier to Chalon Head” (Koichi Sato RDP FRPSL) – Traditional ( Available from APF Store)
